uniform for 1 student = 1 1/8 = 9/8

uniform 32 students = 32 x 9/8 = 36m

Total cloth = 45 3/4 = 183/4 = 45.75m

Cloth left = 45.75 - 36 = 9.75m

This is a question on addition ,subtraction and multiplication of fractions.

Material for one student = 1 \frac{1}{8}  = 9/8 ( improper form)

The total number of students = 32

Total material required for the 32 is :

= 32 × 9/8 = 36 m

The tailor used 36 m.

The initial length = 45 \frac{3}{4} = 45.75 m ( in decimals)

The remaining = Initial - The material used

= 45.75 - 36 = 9.75 m

in fraction form is :

= 9\frac{3}{4}
