Answer:

let B takes x days and A takes (x+3) days to finish a work

Step-by-step explanation:

A's 1 days' work = 1/(x+3) units

B's 1 days' work = 1/x units

(A+B)'s 1 days' work = 1/2

1/(x+3) + 1/x = 1/2

(2x+3)/(x^2 +3x) = 1/2

4x +6 = x^2 + 3x

x^2 - 1x - 6 =0

x^2 - 3x + 2x - 6 = 0

x(x-3) +2(x - 3) = 0

x = -2 ,3

neglect -2 so x = 3

A takes (x + 3) days = 3+3 = 6 days

B takes x days = 3 days
