Total time taken to fill the tank by 1 pipe = 6 hours

Tank will be half filled in = 6 * 1/2 = 6/2 = 3 hours

Part remaining = 1/2

Time to fill another 1/2 is 3 hours by 1 pipe

Time taken by 4 pipes together to fill the tank = 3/4 = 45 mins

The tank will be filled in 45 mins.

Time taken to fill half of tank = 3hours

Time taken to fill the tank = 6 hours

Rate of filling water by one pump = 1/6

Rate of filling water by 4 pump = 4×1/6
= 2/3

Time taken to fill another half
= 1/2 ÷ 2/3
= 3/4 hours
= 45 minutes
