Answer:

Given:

Initial odometer reading = 1052 km

Final odometer reading = 1088 km

Time between these reading = 30 min

To find:

Average speed of the car

Concept:

Average speed is universally defined aa the ratio of total distance to the total time taken to travel that distance.

Since the term "distance" is involved , we can say that "average speed " is a scalar quantity . If only has magnitude ans no Direction. And it is always positive.

Calculation:

Distance travelled in the specified time Interval be d.

d = final \: reading - initial \: reading

 =  > d = 1088 - 1052

 =  > d = 36 \: km

Now time taken should be considered in hours :

t = 30 \: min =  \dfrac{1}{2} \:  hr

Now average speed :

avg. \: v =  \dfrac{d}{t}

 =  > avg. \: v =  \dfrac{36}{  \{\dfrac{1}{2}  \}}  = 72 \: km {hr}^{ - 1}

So final answer :

 \boxed{ \red{ \bold{ \sf{ \huge{avg. \: v = 72 \: km {hr}^{ - 1} }}}}}
