"A Teacher presents the past, reveals the present, and creates the future":

A teacher who stands with her head held high and with a smile shows us the experience that she has gained in the past, by teaching us with positive approach, she shows us the present and by grooming us into intelligent, and disciplined students with a positive attitude, she stands for the future citizens that she has brought up.

All these are the accomplishment of a good teacher with whom most of the lives of an individual has been spent.  If we are in good hands of the teachers, then we can be in safe hands also. Only they can shape our future and thereby instilling confidence in us.

So, the proverb very aptly rolls the teachers duties in shaping a good student. They deserve a good place in our hearts, each one of them - the sterner hands, or the teacher with kind words. They both are our true friends.
