  • Cost of hockey stick = x
  • Cost of tennis racket = x+12

⇒ Cost of both = x+x+12

⇒ 31 = x+x+12

⇒ 31 = 2x+12

⇒ 2x = 31-12

⇒ 2x = 19

⇒ x = 19/2

⇒ x = $ 9.5

∴ Cost of hockey stick (x) = $ 9.5

∴ Cost of tennis racket (x+12) = $ 21.5
