on just thinking about this that mercury thermometer register its own temperature that does not make the thermometer useless.a well perfectly designed thermometer will be representative of temperature of its environment
A thermometer registers its own temperature (or at least of its sensor).

it is fact,we would have to do a lot of work to make a thermometer that systematically keeps a different temperature than its environment and in an equilibrium situation every part of a system has the same temperature.
