A thick wire and a thin wire the same material are successively connected to the same circuit to find their respective resistance. which one will have lower resistance? give reason.

R=p (l/a) where R is resistance ,p is resistivity ,l is length ,a is area
As length is same so the thick wire will have more area hence less resistance as resistance is inversely proportional to area by above expression

So your answer thin wire will have more resistance due to less area

Answer:

R is inversely proportional to the area of cross-section .Area of cross-section of thick wire is more so resistance is lower in thick wire.
