First find 40/60 to find the theifs speed. Then add 5 mins I.e 300 sec similarly find 50/60 (policeman's speed) and then find 60/60(dogs speed) I.e. 1m/sec

Speed of thief= 40m/s
In first 5 minutes only thief cover a distance =40 X 5 =200m
Now police and there dog have to cover this distance first and at the same time thief is kept running
When two objects running in same direction then speed will be
50-40m/s=10m/s
60-40m/s=20m/s
So distance to cover
200/10=20 min
200/20=10min
So thief can be catch by police in 20 minutes
And by dog in 10 min
