A three and a half metres long rod is to be cut into two pieces, one piece is hand be bent into a square and the other into an equilateral triangle. The length of a side of both must be the same. How should it be cut?​

Length of the sides = x for square and the triangle.

Perimeter of square = 4x.

Perimeter of equilateral triangle= 3x.

7x = 350, or

x = 50 cm

The 350 cm-long rod must be cut into two pieces of 200 cm and 150 cm.
