A three-phase uncontrolled bridge rectifier delivers power to a resistive load of 1092.
The output voltage of the rectifier is 400 V DC. The rating of source side of three phase
delta - star transformer is,
(a) 14.875 kVA
(b) 16.765 kVA
(C) 15.475 kVA

Answer:

The output d.c.voltage is = 400V

The resistive load is = 10 ohms

The output power drawn by the resistive load = ( 400 x 400 ) / 10 ( note : Power = Voltage square / load resistance )

The power output therefore is = 16000 or 16 kW .

The A.C. power required to deliver 16 kW of load will be ( 16 000 / 0.7/0.8 ) = 28.6 kVA or rounded to 30 kVA

note the figures, .8 refers to the power factor on the a.c side of the Transformer and / Rectifier and .7 refers to the efficiency .
