As an individual, I can rightly say that I have my fair share of frights and weaknesses. I cannot go t high places, have a fear of heights and cannot even climb trees. I also have the fear of deep water, rarely joining my friends in swimming. But there came one time I had to repress all these fears for the safety of my friend.
One day, as usual, some groups of friends, including ours, planned to have a day out at the nearby riverside. though the river wasn't that big, it wasn't small either. The other groups of friends moved a bit further to the other parts of the river while our group decided on a spot near the trees. I was also happy about it as I was afraid of the water and don't really want to be near it. After some games and fun and talk, my friends decided to take a dip in the water.
At first, the river did not seem deep so they played around, splashing each other with water and swimming back and fro to the other side. One instant, they were happily giggling and playing, the next thing I know, I heard someone cry out that our friend was missing. She had not came up after she dived in. We waited for a whole 2/3 minutes but nothing came up. the other groups of friends were too far gone, they weren't even visible to us. I urged my friends to dive in and look for her but nothing came up. They couldn't get anything. And they have started getting cold and scared too, some even crying with no energy left. I decided I am the only one left to help out so I waded into the water.
Asking two of our friends for help since I really don't love swimming, we dived in and out for several minutes. Moving to the downstream, we continued the same process. After some 5/10 minutes, I noticed that something was stuck in the underwater log, near me. Diving in, I saw that it was our friend. She had hit her head and was unconscious. Pulling her out of the water was a difficult task but done. then, we started doing CPR and luckily, after s many attempts, she came back to us. There can't be enough words that can describe how relieved we were, how scary it was for me but at the same time, made me realize my inner strength to overcome my fears.
