As the water is boiling in the can, steam replaces the air above the water. When the can is tightly closed as the water is boiling and placed under a tap, the cold water will make the steam inside the can to condense leaving a vacuum inside the can. The vacuum causes a discrepancy in pressure or pressure difference between the inside and the outside of the can. The pressure outside the can will be more than that inside the can and will cause the can to collapse as the net force will be towards the inside of the can.
