How did colonialism systematically destroy Indian crafts and industry?
Ans-
>> Products from Indian crafts and industries flourished both in the international and indian markets. They had great quality, so they were preferred by most. Before British came to India, the trade was mostly in favour of Artisans and craftspersons.
>>But when their rule expanded, British became worried about this. How will their British machine made articles gain profit if this continues to be? Thus, British imposed heavy tax on Indian crafts and products, decreased the princely patronage and started promoting their cheap machine made products. They became popular and more preferable.
Now, Indian goods were nothing but forgotten, because with such heavy taxes who will borrow them? British industries flourished on the cost of Indian crafts. Suffering from losses, the crafts and cottage industries became less popular. The famous industries were destroyed now.
2.How far were British agrarian and tribal policies responsible for widespread discontentment in India?
Ans-
>> The British agrarian and tribal policies were responsible for widespread
resentment among Indians in following ways :-
>>With the introduction of revenue settlements which were quite high the peasants were exploited and evicted from there land if they can't give the revenue and others were forced to only grow crops which were needed by the British and were borrowed in very low prices.
>> The tribals were adversely affected too. They had to follow the laws of British, losing their independence
- Most forests were declared reserved. They had to migrate to other places.
- They had to search for livelihood. Their self sufficient lifestyle was destroyed. They had to lose control over forests, their traditional lands and lifestyle.
- Many were recruited to work in far away places (assam plantations and coal mines etc.) for living. They had to work under very poor and difficult conditions.
>> Already over-burdened with taxations and revenues, natural calamities, long loans, the peasants led a life of poverty, indebtedness and discontment. The self sufficient economy of rural masses was completely destroyed under British agrarian policies.
Thus in this ways were the British agrarian and tribal policies responsible for widespread discontentment in India.

Hey buddy
Here is your answer
The main purpose of the British colonialism was to expand trade in India. Indian crafts and industry dominated the Indian market when the British came to India. The disadvantage of the Indian crafts was that they were hand-made and were time-consuming. This made them expensive. So what Britishers did was they brought textiles from outside which was cheap and at the same time good in quality. When the demand for such clothes increased, they gradually established textile industries with advanced machines. The production of such clothes required less hard work and time. All this led to the shutdown of textile industries and the end of Indian crafts.
