value of Rs 100 prizes would be 100*x=Rs 100x
value of Rs 500 prizes would be 500 *100-x=50000-500x
now as given in the question the total prizes to be distributed are of worth Rs 18000
100x + 50000-500x=18000
50000-400x=18000
50000-18000=400x
32000=400x
32000/400=x
x=80
now the number of Rs 500 prizes would be 100-80=20
so the number of Rs 100 prizes are 80 and number of Rs 500 prizes are 20
