A total of rupees 50000 is to be distributed among 200 persons at prices.A prices is either rupees 500 or 100. find the number of each types of prices.

LET THE NUMBER OF 500RS NOTE =x

LET THE NUMBER OF 100RS NOTE BE =y

x+y=200

500x + 100y=50000

5x + y=5000[dividing both sides by hundred]

5x+y-x-y=5000-200

4x=4800

x=1200

y=-1000
