Given:

A trader buys vanilla ice cream at rs 30 per kg and sitaphal ice cream at rs 50 per kg.

To find:

Percentage of the vanilla icecream in the mixture.

Solution:

It is given in the question that the mixture is sold @ ₹44 and have the profit of 10% which have the ratio as 1/10

So the ratio of the Selling price of the mixture will be 10+1 = 11

  • 11 ------- ₹44
  • 1 -------- ₹4
  • 10 ------- ₹ 40

So the cost price of the mixture is ₹40 now we will find the ratio of the components of the mixture by allegation method.

Vanilla              Sitaphal

 30                     50

                40

  10                       10

So the ratio of Vanilla and sitaphal in the mixture is 1:1

Percentage of vanilla icecream in the mixture is given by:

  • (Vanilla/total )100
  • 1.100/2
  • 50%

Percentage of the vanilla icecream in the mixture is 50%
