To Find  : the speed of the train  

how long will it take to cross a bridge 200 metre long  

how long it will take to overtake another train 250 m long moving at 54 km per hour in the same direction

Solution:

300 m long passes an electric pole in 15 seconds

= speed of Train = 300/15

=> Speed of Train = 20 m/s

=> Speed of train  =   20 x 3600/1000  = 72 km/hr

Time taken  to cross a bridge 200 meter long   = ( 300 + 200)/20

= 25 sec

overtake another train 250 m long moving at 54 km per hour in the same direction

54 km per hour  = 54 * 5/18  =  15 m/s

Relative Speed = 20 - 15  =  5 m/s

Distance to be covered = 300 + 250 = 550 m

Time taken =  550/5  = 110 secs
