A train 360m long is running at a speed of 45km/hr. find the time taken by it to cross a 140m long tunnel

(using variation method).

Formula for converting from

km/hrtom/s:Xkm/hr=X×518m/s

Therefore,

Speed=45×518msec=252msec

Total distance to be covered=(360+140)m=500m

Formula for finding Time=DistanceSpeed

∴Requiredtime=(500×225)sec=40sec.
