Question :–

A train, 500 metre long, running at a uniform speed, passes a station in 35 seconds. If the length of the platform is 221 metre, the speed of the train in km/hr is ?

Answer :–

74.16 km/hr

Given :–

  • Length of train = 500m long.
  • Time taken = Passes a station in 35 seconds.

To Find :–

If the length of the platform is 221 metre then,

  • Find the speed of the train in km/hr.

Solution :–

Total Distance travelled = Length of platform + Length of train

= 221 + 500

= 721m

Hence,

The speed of train =  \frac{Total \: distance \: travelled}{Time \: taken}

=  \frac{721}{35}

=  20.6 \: m/sec

For convert m/s into km/h :

Multiply the speed by 3.6,

So, we get,

=  20.6 \times 3.6

=  74.16 \: km/h
