Total distance  travelled by Train = 70 + 40+ 50 = 160 km

Total time taken to travel 160 km = 1 + 0.5 +0.7 = 2.2 hrs

Average speed = total distance/total time taken
                          = 160/2.2
                          = 72.7 km/hr

Concept:

Average speed is the Total Distance Covered divided by total time taken.

Given:

First 70 Km covered in 1 hour

Next 40 Km covered in 0.5 hour

Next 50 Km covered in 0.7 hour

Find:

Average speed of train.

Solution:

Total distance covered by train = 70 + 40 + 50 Km

Total distance covered by train = 160 Km

Total time taken by train = 1 + 0.5 + 0.7 hours

Total time taken by train = 2.2 hours

Average speed of train will be total Distance covered by train divided by Total time taken by train.

Average speed of train = Total Distance covered by train / Total time taken by train.

Average speed = 160 / 2.2 m/s

Average speed = 72.72 m/s

Hence,  The average speed of train will be 72.72 m/s.
