A train is moving in the west direction with a velocity 15m/s.A monkey runs on the roof of the train against its motion with a velocity 5m/s with respect to train .Take the motion along west as positive i)Velocity of train relative to its driver ii). What is the velocity of train with respect to monkey iii). find the velocity of monkey with respect to ground

Answer:

1. 15m/s

2. 10m/s

3. 20m/s

Explanation:

1. The driver is also in motion relative to train because he is in the train

2. The train's velocity is 15m/s the monkey is running in the opposite side monkey speed is 5m/s. So, 15-5 = 10m/s

3. It is 20m/s because even if it is running in the opposite side because we are seeing from the ground, we are in rest and add the velocity of the monkey and the train

Answer:

(i) velocity of train relative to its driver is 15m/s

(ii)velocity of train with respect to monkey is -5m/s

(iii)velocity of monkey with respect to ground is 10m/

Explanation:

Given ,Given train speed = 15m / s = 15m/s

Monkey speed relative to the train = 5m/s

Let Monkey speed relative to  the  ground = -V_{M}

Let Monkey speed relative to the train = V_{T}

Step1:

Since the driver is also inside the train, the speed of the train for the driver = 15m/s

Relative velocity of the train  to the monkey  = V_{TM}

and relative velocity of the monkey  to the train = V_{MT} = 5m/s

V_{TM} = - V_{MT}

V_{TM} = -5m/s

Step2:

Where the monkey's velocity  with respect to the ground= -V_{M}

Therefore, the relative speed of the monkey to the train is

V_{TM} = V_{M} - V_{T}

⇒-5 = V_{M} -  15

V_{M} = 10 m/s

Final answer :

Hence , (i) velocity of train relative to its driver is 15m/s

              (ii)velocity of train with respect to monkey is -5m/s

               (iii)velocity of monkey with respect to ground is 10m/s
