Step-by-step explanation:

There is missing information in the posted question. I attempt to supply the information and the question may be read as

“The speed of a train is reduced from 60 km/h, to15 km/h, at the same time it travels a distance of 450 m. If the retardation is uniform, find how much further it will travel before coming to rest?”

Sol. Changing given speeds to SI units

u = 60 *1000/3600 = 16.67 m/s

v = 15*1000/3600 = 4.17 m/s

To find retardation we use the kinematic expression

v^2 - u^2 = 2as

Inserting given values we get

(4.17)^2 - (16.67)^2 = 2*a*450

a = - 0.289 m/s^2

For the train to come to rest new equation becomes

0^2 - (4.17)^2 = 2*(- 0.289) s2

Solving it we get

s2 = (4.17)^2/0.578 = 30 m
