A train is travelling at a speed of 60kmph .brakes are applied so as to produce a uniform acceleration of -0.5m/s2 .find how far the train will go before it is brought to rest

your answer is ---

Given,
initial velocity u = 60km/h or 50/3 m/s

and final velocity v = 0
also, acceleration a = -0.5m/s^2

now, according to formula

v^2 = u^2 + 2as

=> 0 = 2500/9 - s

=> s = 2500/9 meter

hence ,the train will go 2500/9 meter before it is brought to rest.
