and final velocity v = 0
also, acceleration a = -0.5m/s^2
now, according to formula
v^2 = u^2 + 2as
=> 0 = 2500/9 - s
=> s = 2500/9 meter
hence ,the train will go 2500/9 meter before it is brought to rest.
