Speed=Distance/time.
Distance=144km=144000m
and
time taken=
19=7pm
22=10pm
so time between 7:15 - 10:05 is 2hrs50min which is 170min=170×60=10200seconds.

So speed=144000/10200
1440/102
720/51.
=14.11m/sec.

Given:

A train leaves New Delhi at 1915 hours and arrives in Mathura at 2205 hours. The total distance between the two stations is 144km.

To Find:

The speed of the train is?

Solution:

1. The train leaves New Delhi at 1915 hours and arrives in Mathura at 2205 hours,

=> 1915 = 7:15 pm, 2205 = 10:05pm.

=> Total time taken by the train to reach Mathura = 10:05pm - 7:15pm,

=> Total time taken by the train to reach Mathura = 2 hours 50 minutes = 170 minutes = 10200 seconds.

2. The distance between the two trains is 144km = 144000. The speed of the train is given by the formula, S = vt ( where S = distance, v = velocity, t = time )

3. Substitute the data in the given formula,

=> 144000 = v x 10200,

=> v = 1440/102,

=> v  = 14.118 m/s.

Therefore, the speed of the train is 14.118 m/s.
