Answer:

u=0

V=72*5/18=20m/sec

Time=5 *60 second=300sec

a=v-u/t

=20-0/300=20/300=1/15 metre per second square

QUESTION.

A train starting from rest attains a velocity of

72 km/hr in 5 minutes. Find

1) The acceleration

2) The time taken to attend the velocity

EXPLANATION.

Let train start from rest = u = 0

velocity = 72 km /hr = 72 X 5/18 = 20 m/s

Time = 5 minutes = 60 X 5 = 300 seconds

according to the question,

From newton 1st equation of kinematics

v = u + at

20 = 0 + 300a

a = 20 / 300

a = 1 / 15 m/s^2

Therefore,

acceleration = 1 / 15 m/s^2

Time taken to attend the velocity

= 300 seconds
