A train starts from a station and moves with a constant
acceleration for 2 minutes. If it covers a distance of 400 metre
in this period, find the acceleration.​

Explanation :

□ As the car starts from rest, so initial speed (u) = 0 m/s

□ Time given (t) = 2 minutes = 2 × 60 = 120 s

□ Distance covered (s) = 400 m

We will use 2nd equation of motion :-

s = ut + ½ at²

Substituting values,

⇒ 400 = 0 × 120 + ½ × a × 120²

⇒ 400 = 0 + ½ × a × 14,400

⇒ 400 = a × 7200

⇒ 7200a = 400

⇒ a = 400/7200

a = 0.06 m/s²

Acceleration of train = 0.06 ms-²
