Given:-

→ A train starts from a station.

→ Distance covered = 400m

→ Time taken = 2 mintutes

To find:-

→ Acceleration of the train.

Solution:-

Firstly, let's convert the time from min to sec .

⇒1 min = 60s

⇒2 min = 60(2)

⇒120s

Now, in this case :-

• Initial velocity of the train will be zero as

it was initially at rest.

According to 2nd equation of motion :-

s = ut + ½at²

Where :-

s is the distance covered.

u is initial velocity of the body.

a is acceleration of the body.

t is time taken.

Substituting values, we get :-

⇒400 = 0(120) + ½ × a × (120)²

⇒400 = 0 + ½ × a × 120 × 120

⇒400 = a × 60 × 120

⇒400 = 7200a

⇒a = 400/7200

⇒a = 0.056 m/s² [approximately]

Thus, acceleration of the train is 0.056 m/s² .

Some Extra Information:-

The 3 equation of motion, for a body moving with uniform acceleartion are :-

• v = u + at

• s = ut + 1/2at²

• v² - u² = 2as
