Given :

Distance between the two stations A and B = 400 km

Total distance travelled from A to B and then from B to A

d = 400 km + 400 km = 800 km

Total time of journey t = 3 h + 5 h = 8 h

(1) Average speed=800km/8h

                         =100km/h−1

(2) Average speed=100×1000/3600

                              =27.7m/s
