The average speed of the train in its whole journey

Given :

• distance from A to B = 500 km
• time taken to go , T1 = 4 hours
• time taken to come, T2 = 6 hours

Solution :

Total time taken to go and return = T1 +T2

= 4+6 h

= 10 hours

total distance covered by train in this duration

= 2(AB)

= 2×500 km

= 1000 km

so, Average speed = distance/time

= 1000/10

= 100 km/h

so, Average speed = 100 km/h
