Given:

A train takes about 400 seconds to completely cross two stations S1 and S2. It is given that the stations are 7.8kms apart If the length of the train is 200m

To Find:

what is the speed of the train?

Solution:

We are given the distance between the two stations which is 7.8km and no length of the station is given so we will consider the length of the stations to be zero, and the train completely crosses the stations in 400 seconds,

Then in this situation, they will not only cover the 7.8km distance but will also cover the distance of its own length that is 200m,

So total distance=7800+200

                           =8000m

And the time taken is 400seconds, so the speed of the train will be,

s=\frac{d}{t}\\=\frac{8000}{400}  \\=20m/s

Hence, the speed of the train is 20m/s.
