SolutioN :

GiveN :

▪ A train travels some distance with a speed of 30kmph and returns with a speed of 45kmph.

To FinD :

▪ Average speed of the train.

ConcepT :

✒ Average speed is defined as the ratio of total distance travelled to the total time taken.

✒ Average speed is a scalar quantity.

✒ It has only magnitude.

✒ If body covers firat half of total distance with velocity V1 and second half of total distance with velocity V2 then formula of average velocity is given by

Vav = 2V1V2/(V1+V2)

CalculatioN :

→ Vav = 2V1V2/V1+V2

→ Vav = 2(30)(45)/(30+45)

→ Vav = 2700/75

Vav = 36kmph
