Difference in time of train X going from station A to B = 90 minutes

Difference in time of train Y going from station B to A = 60 minutes

90 = 3² × 2 × 5

60 = 2² × 3 × 5

HCF = 3 × 2 × 5

HCF = 30

So , They will meet after 30 minutes

Hey !!

Find the time taken by both the trains to reach other point:

Time taken by train X to reach B from A

= 4:30 PM - 3:00 PM = 1:30 Hrs = 1.5 Hrs

Time taken by train Y to reach A from B

= 4:00 PM - 3 PM = 1:00 Hr = 1 Hr.

Assume distance between A and B as 5 km

(You can take any non zero value)

Find the speed of both the trains :

Speed of train X = 5/1.5= 50/15 = 10/3 kmph

Speed of train Y = 5/1 = 5 kmph

Time taken by trains to meet each other =

5/((10/3)+5) = 5/(25/3) = 3/5 = 0.6 Hrs = 36 Minutes

The two trains cross each other after 36 minutes of 3 PM

i.e. , at 3:36 PM
