Given:

  • ABCD is a trapezium
  • AB || CD
  • ∠D = 70°

To Find:

  • The measure of ∠C

Solution:

  • First, draw a perpendicular line A from CD to meet CD at M and a perpendicular B on CD to meet N.
  • Now consider, ΔADM and ΔBNC,
  • ∠AMD = ∠BNC (Both are 90°)
  • AM = BN (Distance between the parallel lines)
  • AD = BC (Given)
  • From the above obtained information we can say that, ΔADM ≅ ΔBNC
  • Hence, ∠C = ∠D = 70°

∴ The measure of ∠C = 70°.
