Answer:

Depth of water in the container is 8 cm

Explanation:

As we know that shift of microscope to focus the bottom of the container is given as

\frac{\mu_2}{d_i} = \frac{\mu_1}{d_o}

here we have

\mu_2 = 1 due to air

\mu_1 = \frac{4}{3} due to water

now we have

d_i = \frac{\mu_2}{\mu_1} d_o

d_i = \frac{3}{4} d_o

so we have

d_o - d_i = 2cm

d_o(1 - \frac{3}{4}) = 2 cm

d_o = 8 cm

Answer: 8 cm

Explanation :

d = ď(1 - 1/ų)

2 = ď ( 1 - 1/(4/3))

2 = ď ( 1 - 3/4)

2 = ď ( 1/4)

ď = 4 × 2

ď = 8 cm.
