such that,

AB = Height from where tree is broken

BC = distance where top touches the ground from base of tree

AC = remaining height of tree

Now this forms a right angle triangle

Therefore,

(AB)²+(BC)²= (AC²)

→ 3²+4²= AC²

9+ 16=AC²

√AC²= √25=5

Therefore,

AC=5m

The original height of tree is AB+AC

= 3+5= 8

Therefore original height of tree is 8cm
