let the length of the tree is x .
so the equation is
(x-2x/5)=9
or, 5x-2x=45 ...(multiply both side with 5)
or, 3x=45
so , x=15
ans-the height of the tree is 15m

Answer:

15 metres

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the height of the Let the height of the tree = y meters

The part of the tree that is visible = 2/5 × y

the part which is hidden by the building = y - 2/5 × y = y × [ 1 - 2/5]

           = 3/5 × y

the part hidden of the tree = the height of the building

         3/5 × y = 9 meters

               y = 9 × 5/3 = 15 meters
