the height at which the tree breaks.  = 5.5 m

Step-by-step explanation:

Height of tree = 12 m

Let say tree breaks at h height

then height of tree part touching ground = 12 - x  m

tree touches the ground making an angle 60° with ground

=> Sin 60° = h/(12 - h)

=> √3/2 = h/(12 - h)

=> 12√3  - h√3  = 2h

=> h(2 + √3)  = 12√3

=> h = 12√3/(2 + √3)

=> h = 12√3(2 - √3)

=> h = 24√3 - 36

=> h = 41.5 - 36

=> h = 5.5

the height at which the tree breaks.  = 5.5 m
