Volume of mud dug out = 10 ×3×1 m³ = 30 m³
a square patch of ground has equal length and breadth , i.e, 10 m
Area of the square patch = 10 ×10 m² = 100 m²
Let the rise in the level of the patch be x m
.
. . By the problem:

30 = 100 × x
=> x= 30/100
=> x= 3/10
.
. . x = 0.3 m
.
. . the rise in the level of the patch is 0.3m
