by pythagoras theorem,
a^2 = b^2 + c^2
13^2 = 169
12^2 + 5^2 = 144 + 25 = 169

hence it is a right angled triangle.so h = 5 inches and b = 12 inches or vise versa
area of triangle = 1/2 × b × h
= 1/2 × 12 × 5
= 30 inches^2
area of rect. =lb
l × 4 = 30
l = 30 /4 = 7.5 inches

perimeter of rect = 2(l+b)
= 2(7.5 + 4)
= 2(11.5) = 23 inches

mariabutt60: why we will use Pythagoras theorem??
shreeram9: to prove that it is an right angled triangle
shreeram9: if we dont use it then we may not be able to know what to be used as h and b
mariabutt60: am confused why we will take 13 as hypothesis??
shreeram9: because longest side will always be the hypotenuse
mariabutt60: ok thank u so much ☺
