kunjalbabbar21: In the step, 3s-2s = 24...How is it that a+b+c=2s?
sprao534: s represents semi perimeter of a triangle. so 2s=a+b+c is the perimeter of the triangle.

A triangle having sides a,b,c if s-a=4 and s-b=8 and s-c=12 find the value of a,b,c :

1) Let a , b ,c denote the sides of a triangle,

2)Then its perimeter is 2s = a + b + c

=constant Area of the triangle is

u,

3) (s-a)+(s-b)+(s-c) = 4+8+12

s-a+s-b+s-c = 24

3s - (a+b+c) = 24

3s-2s = 24

s = 24

Now,

• s - a = 4

24 - a= 4

a = 24-4

= 20

• s- b = 8

24- 8 = b

b = 16

• s - c= 12

24- 12 = c

c = 12

Therefore, sides of a triangle

a = 20, b= 16, c= 12
