The Chenab river is a tributary of Indus that originates from Himachal Pradesh.


This origin of this river is the Lahaul and Spiti district in the North Indian state. It extends over an area of 7,500 sq km / 2,900 sq mi and traverses a length of 122 km / 76 mi. This river enters Kashmir from Himachal Pradesh from where it flows through Punjab. As per the Indus Waters Treaty, the water of this river is used by Pakistan.

River Chenab or Chandrabhaga is a tributary of the Indus which originates from Himachal Pradesh.

The Chenab river is the largest tributary of the Indus. It is formed by two streams known as the Chandra and the Bhaga. The two streams join at Tandi, near Keylong in Himachal Pradesh. So it is also known as Chandrabhaga.
