A truck has wide tyres in order to increase the area of the contact with the road so that the pressure exerted is less.

Explaination :

We know , force is inversely proportional to area of contact. So, if the area of contact is less , the pressure exerted is more and area of contact is more , the pressure exerted is less.
Broad tyres will increase the area of contact with road and the pressure exerted on road will be less. This prevents the truck from sinking whereas the other vehicles of the same truck if they have less broad tyres , they would sink.
