A truck of mass m is moved under a force F. If the truck is then loaded with an object equal to the mass of the truck and the driving force is halved then how does the acceleration change?

Let the initial acceleration be a m/s^2.

Then we have,

F=m×a

or a=F/m ....(1)


Now m0=2m kg

F0=1/2 N


Therefore a0=F0/m0

or a0=1/2×1/2m

or a0=1/4 × F/m

or a0=1/4 × a ...using (1)


Therefore the acceleration produced becomes 1/4 times of the previous acceleration of the truck.
