a truck uses a convex mirror as a viewfinder whose radius of curvature is 2.0m. A Maruti car is coming behind the truck at a distance of 10 m. what will be the position of the image of the car and the size of the image of the car when observed by the driver of the truck through the convex mirror

the position will be behind the convex mirror and the image will be virtual and erect and highly enlarged

mibrahim153: pls can you prove it mathematically

Radius(R)=2m

focal length(f) = R/2= 1m

applying mirror formula

1/v+1/u=1/f

1/v - 1/10 = 1/1

1/v= 1+1/10 = 11/10

v = 10/11m

position of the image will be 10/11 m in the mirror

magnification(M) = v/u = (10/11) / (-10) = -1/11

:. Size of image= M*u = -10*(-1/11) = 10/11m

Hope this helps :)
