Answer:

Let, V_A and V_B be the reactions at supports A and B.

Taking moment about A, \sumM_A = 0

V_B (7.5) = 5 kN

V_B = 0.67 kN

V_A + V_B = 1 kN,

V_A = 0.33 kN

Consider Joint A:

\sumV = 0, Resolving forces vertically

F_{AC} sin 30° = V_A = 0.33

F_{AC} = 0.33/sin 30° = 0.67 kN

\sumH = 0, Resolving forces horizontally

F_{AC} cos 30° = F_{AD}

F_{AD} = 0.67 × cos 30° = 0.58 kN (Tension)

Consider Joint B:

\sumV = 0, Resolving forces vertically

F_{BC} sin 30° = V_B = 0.67 kN

F_{BC} = 0.67/sin 30° = 1.33 kN

\sumH = 0, Resolving forces horizontally

F_{BC} cos 30° = F_{BD}

F_{BD} = 1.33 × cos 30° = 1.16 kN (Tension)

Consider Joint D:

\sumV = 0, Resolving vertically

F_{DC} sin 60° = 1 kN

F_{DC} = 1/sin 60° = 1.16 kN (Tension)

Check:

\sumH = 0, Resolving horizontally

F_{DC} cos 30° + 0.58 = F_{DB} = 1.16

F_{DC} = (1.16 - 0.58)/ cos 30° = 1.16 kN (Checked)
