A very good morning sisters, teachers and all my dear friends. Today, I am here to speak about the damage tsunamis can cause and what measures we must take in order to minimise the damage, both physical and mental.
Tsunamis have devastating effects on coastal areas. It can render human beings homeless.Even large objects such as ships and boulders can be carried several miles inland when a tsunami strikes. Whole areas and towns are a picture of destruction as tsunamis leave a trail of devastation and misery behind them. Escaping a tsunami is nearly impossible. The violent force of the tsunami results in instant death. A tsunami completely changes the landscape.
Mental health of the survivors of disaster is another issue to be tackled by community and the government. Victims of tsunami events often suffer psychological problems which can last for days, years or an entire lifetime. Massive costs hit the nation when a tsunami happens.
National institutions, the UN, several international organisations, community groups and NGOs etc often come together to provide different kinds of aids and services to the affected people.
At last, I would like to conclude that we cannot escape the wrath of nature. The government must take necessary steps to make sure that there is minimal loss.
