let the number be 10x + y
now it is given to be 4 times the sum of its digits.
10x + y = 4( x + y )
10x + y = 4x + 4y
10x - 4x = 4y - y
6x = 3y
2x = y---------------------(1)
now,
10x + y= 2xy ( we are going to put the value of y in this equation this is known as substitution method )
10x + 2x = 2xy
12x = 2xy
12x/ 2x = y
y = 6
put the value of y in equation (1) to get the value of x:
2x = y
2x = 6
x = 6/2
x = 3
so the number => 10x + y => 10 ( 3) + 6 => 36
