A uniform magnetic field is directed vertically upwards. In which direction in this field should an alpha particle (which are positively charged) be projected so that it is deflected southward? Name and state the rule you have used to find the direction in this case.

By using right hand thumb rule.

We get the direction of current but a-particles are positively charged

so we take direction of a-particles opposite to direction of current.

So answer should be east
