A Verandah 1.25 m wide is constructed all along the outside of a room 5.5 M long and 4 metre wide. Find the cost of cementing the floor of this Virender at the rate of Rupees 15 per square metre.

Since the verandah is of width ,outer length of room =5.5+2(1.25)=7m
width of the room=4+2(1.25)=4+2.5=6.5
So Area of the verandah= Outer area-Inner area
                                       =7x6.5-5.5x4
                                       =45.5-22=23.5
Cost of cementing at 15 per sq m=23.5X15=Rs 352.50
